In your search for a vocal music instruction course, class, tutor, studio, coach, or private school, check out a few different ones to get course availability, price, location, start and end date, and type of instruction. Check out your local academic institution or college, and browse newspaper listings for private at-home voice instruction for teachers that can visit your home to give vocal lessons and teach technique, tips to improve your singing voice, exercises, and advice on range and chords. Make appointments with each to get a feel for the class and whether you’d be a good fit. Price and cost is a factor so be sure it fits into your budget. Ask how long the class is. Some classes are ongoing, while others last six or eight weeks. Ask if the instructor has a website you can check out for more information, photos of recent jazz or rock performances, description of vocal courses, and student testimonials. When meeting with the vocal instructor, coach or private tutor, take note if he or she is professional, timely and accommodating. Check out the physical appearance of the facility, ensuring it is clean and well maintained. Find out the school’s background and research its reputation. Ask what the music instruction course entails, such as music theory, education, introduction, methodology, advocacy, technique, art of performance, tips, how to train, chords and range, and how polyps, nodules, and folds affect a singing voice.
